📄 Abstract
The rapid growth of the electronics industry has resulted in an increasing generation of electronic waste (e-waste), creating significant environmental, health and sustainability challenges. Improper disposal and informal recycling practices contribute to air, water and soil contamination, while exposing human populations to hazardous substances. This study examines the major challenges associated with e-waste management and explores sustainable approaches, including the 3Rs principle, refurbishment, remanufacturing, recycling and urban mining. It also highlights the importance of effective regulatory frameworks, technological advancement and integrated socioeconomic strategies in promoting resource recovery and sustainable e-waste management.
