📄 Abstract
Sandhigata Vata is one of the Vataja Nanatmaja Vyadhis described in Ayurveda, characterized by pain, swelling, and restricted movements of the joints. It closely resembles osteoarthritis in modern medical terminology. The condition results from vata dosha vitiation localized in sandhis (joints), leading to degeneration of sandhi asthi and sandhi snayu. The present article aims to conceptually explore Sandhigata Vata based on Ayurvedic classics and correlate its pathophysiology, symptomatology, and management principles with modern understanding.
