📄 Abstract
In this research paper, the comparative analysis will be done on Air Quality Index (AQI), per capita income and liveability index of 9 of the world metropolitan cities (New York, London, Singapore, Dubai, Zurich and Hong Kong) and three of the Indian metropolitan cities (Pune, Mumbai and Delhi). The multi-dimensional model used in the paper is founded on the information disclosed by IQAir World Air Quality Report 2024, the Economist Intelligence Unit ( EIU) Global Liveability Index, the Mercer Quality of Living Rankings, the World Bank, and Numbeo Cost of Living indices among other effective sources. Strong correlations of air quality, economic prosperity and liveability are also found in the paper, although there are also outliers, including good metro infrastructure in the world and poor air quality in Delhi, which is also important. The best practices that other countries have been able to adopt such as London Ultra Low Emission Zone, Singapore Vehicle Quota System, congestion pricing in New York and integrated transit model in Zurich are researching and analyzing how they would be applied in the Indian context. The paper ends by giving a progressive recommendation framework of 02 years and 5 years (5-15 years) of interventions with a specific recommendation for Pune, Mumbai and Delhi cities.
