📄 Abstract

This research paper examines the functional-semantic features of directive verbs in French and Uzbek, exploring their usage in commands, requests, and suggestions. By analyzing these verbs through linguistic and cultural frameworks, the study identifies both universal characteristics and language-specific distinctions. French, as a Romance language, leverages inflection and mood variations, while Uzbek, a Turkic language, employs agglutinative morphology and hierarchical markers. The paper discusses politeness strategies, structural differences, and cultural nuances, highlighting their role in effective communication. The findings provide insights valuable to linguists, educators, and translators, contributing to the broader understanding of cross-linguistic pragmatics.
