📄 Abstract
This descriptive-comparative study assessed library service quality and user satisfaction at the academic library of a private higher education institution in Negros Occidental, Philippines, using an adapted 32-item LibQUAL+-based survey administered to 308 actual student library users. The instrument demonstrated excellent internal consistency across four dimensions. Comparative analysis revealed consistent, statistically significant differences by sex, with male students rating all four dimensions significantly higher than female students (all p < .001). Year level produced no significant differences in any dimension. Frequency of library use significantly influenced three dimensions, with daily users recording the highest satisfaction for Affect of Service and Library as a Place, while monthly users led on Information Control. The two lowest-rated items across the entire instrument were printed collection currency, and digital resource currency. Temperature appropriateness carried the highest standard deviation in the study. Recommendations address climate control, transparent collection development communication, Wi-Fi infrastructure, targeted outreach to better understand and address the service expectations of female library users, and staff competence training in subject-specific reference support.
