📄 Abstract

The difficulty of maintaining healthy functioning among educators facing professional scrutiny is a growing concern in basic education. This study explored teachers' perceptions as they navigate formal complaints. Employing a qualitative descriptive design, the researcher interviewed six (6) Junior High School teachers selected via purposive sampling and applied thematic analysis to analyze the data. Consequently, the study found that adversity and stress serve as major barriers to maintaining the healthy functioning of teachers who were accused of physically harming students. These conflicts resulted in court involvement and legal expenses, with complaints filed with barangay offices, school administrations, division offices, regional offices, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and even through the national 8888 complaint system. Educational leaders may support teachers by initiating seminars about teachers’ rights and legal procedures. Future research may develop survey instruments and employ mixed-methods designs to further examine emotional distress, workplace pressure, coping mechanisms, institutional support, professional identity, resilience, and healthy functioning amid professional challenges and stressful experiences.
