📄 Abstract
Sensor-based microplastics detection systems are emerging as a crucial solution to monitor and control environmental pollution caused by tiny plastic particles. These systems use advanced sensors such as optical, fluorescence, and electrochemical sensors to identify and quantify microplastics in water and soil samples. The integration of microcontrollers and IoT technology enables real-time data collection and remote monitoring. Image processing techniques and machine learning algorithms further enhance detection accuracy by distinguishing microplastics from other particles. Such systems are compact, cost-effective, and suitable for field deployment. They help in early detection, reducing risks to marine life and human health. This paper discusses the design, working principles, and advantages of sensor-based microplastics detection systems. Experimental results demonstrate improved sensitivity and efficiency compared to traditional laboratory methods. The proposed system supports sustainable environmental monitoring and pollution control. Overall, it offers a promising approach for addressing the growing challenge of microplastic contamination.
