📄 Abstract
Higher education plays an important role in the social, political, economic and scientific developmentof any nation. India has one of the largest education system especially higher educations in the world. Higher education in West Bengal has witnessed a tremendous increase in institutions in recent years. The society?s expectations from higher education have not remained the same always; it?s kept changing with different social corners, economic conditions, and political situations. The Hooghly district has had a great legacy of higher education in the state of west Bengal and the country as well. The Present study is directed to investigate the existing status of higher education in Hooghly district in terms of institutions, quality, access, diversification of subjects, etc.
