📄 Abstract
Neonatal Jaundice also called Neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia, common condition in newborns where bilirubin builds up in the blood, causing yellowing of the skin and eyes. While usually physiological (peaking days 3-5), jaundice within 24 hours or extreme levels require immediate medical intervention (phototherapy) to prevent bilirubin-induced brain damage, per WHO and standard guidelines. The objective of the study is to Assess the Knowledge regarding Neonatal Jaundice among Postnatal mothers in a selected Hospital, Aizawl, Mizoram. Quantitative research approach was used in which descriptive research design was used as a research design. As for the study 100 postnatal mothers were selected using purposive sampling technique in a selected Hospital, Aizawl, Mizoram. The collected data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study categorizes knowledge into three levels—Inadequate (0-9), Moderate (10-15), and Adequate (16-20) and examines their distribution across various demographic groups using the Chi-square test for statistical significance. It was found that majority of the postnatal mothers had moderate knowledge regarding neonatal jaundice. The study concluded that the majority of postnatal mothers have moderate knowledge regarding neonatal jaundice. Hence, it is statistically interpreted that there is no significant association between knowledge score with the selected demographic variables.
