📄 Abstract

Entrepreneurship in education has evolved as an important dimension in the field of educational development, specifically within the expanding business of coaching for entrance examinations. The present study explores growth trajectory of coaching industry and its emerging business models. The study adopts a qualitative-descriptive research design based on secondary data collected from Ministry of Corporate Affairs, corporate databases, government records, industry reports, and academic literature for the period 1981–2022. Decadal growth analysis indicates substantial increase in the number of education companies engaged in entrance examination coaching, indicating increasing commercialisation of shadow education. Further, correlation analysis reflects a strong positive association between the growth of coaching enterprises and the expansion of entrance examination participation. Using the Business Model Canvas framework, key dimensions of coaching enterprises were identified, including value propositions, customer segments, delivery channels, revenue structures, and strategic partnerships.
