📄 Abstract

The digital transformation is a paradigm shift in Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry in India. The research paper will examine the two forces of advantages and challenges that will affect the process of adopting digital supply chains by Indian FMCG firms till the year 2026. Based on the strict application of the exploratory methodology based on the secondary data analysis, this study will cluster the modern macroeconomic reports and corporate reports of the industry leaders such as Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) and ITC Ltd. The research uses comparative performance benchmarking and thematic matrix analysis to assess the digitization effect on essential supply chain measures including inventory turnover, reduction in lead time, and penetration in rural markets. Although these advantages of operation are high, the research notes that extreme structural limitations, in the form of an endemic lack of a specialized IT expertise (the so-called digital dilemma), excessive investments of capital, and a lack of infrastructures in the rural areas are still perceived to strangle industry-wide adoption. The results conclude that, although the implementation of Industry 4.0 is associated with colossal efficiency benefits, specific policy interventions, modular deployment plans, and an intensive development of local IT expertise are critical to eliminating these systemic obstacles and achieving sustainable and robust economic development.
